Basics with Wendy

Basics

Class will focus on core principles of yoga and ayurveda as wisdom practices. Classes will include asanas to progressively build strength, balance, and freedom of movement, meditation, pranayama, and deep relaxation. Classes will also help students develop conscious connections and expand awareness of the flow of energy or prana and its relationship to our experience of well-being. No prior yoga experience is necessary. Students will receive gentle guidance, modifications, and support with respect for individual differences.

Chair Class

Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that adapts yoga positions through creative use of the chair. The chair replaces the mat and offers support, stability, and safety. This class does not require getting up and down from a mat, is easy on the joints, and is ideal for those with chronic conditions such as arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, difficulty with balance, or for those recovering from acute injury. Emphasis is on breathing, balance, and taking things at one's own pace. Classes will include meditation and breathing techniques.


Gentle Class

Gentle Class

Gentle yoga is designed as a less physically demanding practice than a beginner's class. Students recovering from an injury, or with chronic joint pain, stiffness, weakness or fatigue, may benefit from this class. This class can also provide support and coping skills for students experiencing certain challenging aspects of aging, such as impairment of memory, balance and core strength, difficulty sleeping, depression and anxiety. Students practice breath awareness, relaxation, meditation, some strengthening poses, gentle movements to increase range of motion and restorative poses. Students must have the ability to move down to, and get up from, the floor.


Mixed Level

Mixed Level ~ Deepening with Wendy

Class will include the components of the Basics class and will focus on refining, deepening, and integrating the wisdom of yoga and ayurveda in daily life. Classes will invite students to focus attention and expand awareness of inner and outer alignment, skillfulness and clarity of action, and the quality of the breath that supports a unique experience of consistent energy flow, presence of stillness, and unity with nature simultaneously. 1 year prior yoga experience required. Students will receive gentle guidance, modifications, and support with respect for individual differences.

Mixed Level ~ with Steve

The mixed level class provides a foundation for students just beginning yoga while also allowing intermediate level students to refine and grow their practice. Students use stretching, sun salutations and basic asanas to build strength and awareness while being properly aligned and safe. This is a well-rounded, fun class that also includes meditation, pranayama, philosophy and tips for healthy living.

Private Instruction

Private instruction can be therapeutic for chronic health issues, can offer support and insight for a home practice, and is favored by some students as their preferred way to study.
